Diversity empowers science and innovation  

Systemic structural racisim and ingrained, often unconscious, attitudes towards race and intolerance are problems that are antithetical to transformative and innovative research.

 

The Fiumera Lab commits to a productive laboratory environment that acknowledges, respects and embraces diverse heritages, cultural traditions and experiences.

Learning about diversity, equity and inclusion is a lifelong process.

We will:

• educate ourselves on inclusion practices through anti-discriminatory training, literature, reflection, dialog and listening to each other.

• not tolerate  direct or indirect aggressions and microaggressions dealing with race, sexism, sexual prejudice, classism, ageism and ableism.

• take action against discriminatory behaviors. 

• build diversity, equity and inclusion in our team through broader recruitment, engagement and science outreach activities.
